PT FREE THE SEA is a sustainable plastic waste management company with a bold mission: to free the sea from plastic pollution.
We believe the only way to save the ocean is by building the "boring" solutions that no one else does – solutions that create real, lasting impact. We connect households to proper waste infrastructure where systems don't exist, collecting plastic waste directly from homes or through local Material Hubs. Every piece of plastic collected is recycled or responsibly managed, ensuring it never reaches the ocean.
Our Plastic Keepers are the heart of this movement – local heroes on the ground who transform communities and livelihoods through proper waste management.
PT FREE THE SEA is part of the same group as WIK Far East Batam, giving us strong industrial and operational excellence in plastic recycling.

Your Tasks
- nsure production runs to plan on volume, yield, quality, cost, and HSE.
- Lead daily production meetings and weekly planning reviews with MRF and Sales.
- Ensure flake/pellet meets contamination, moisture, colour, bulk density, IV for PET, and MFI/MFR for PP & PE standards.
- Screen & knife settings, wash temperature, dosing, residence time, float-sink density, dryer settings; all changes documented with reason and result.
- Preventive maintenance, critical spares, wear-part life tracking, breakdown response, uptime & OEE.
- Labour, energy, water, chemicals, consumables, maintenance; monthly review vs budget with variance action.
- Weigh, record, and reconcile all input/output streams; investigate and close any loss above tolerance.
- Accept, downgrade, or reject incoming bales on documented evidence; drive corrective action upstream to MRF.
- Maintain competency matrix and training records; no operator runs equipment without certification.
- Machine guarding, LOTO, working at height, confined space, chemical handling, wastewater discharge, waste handling, permit conditions; investigate every incident and near miss to root cause.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Polymer/Materials, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- 8–12+ years of relevant industrial experience, with at least 3 years leading an operating plastic recycling or plastic processing plant.
- Hands-on industrial plastic recycling – must have personally taken at least one washing or extrusion line from specification through installation, commissioning, and ramp-up to stable, on-specification output.
- Strong practical knowledge of PET, PP, and PE mechanical recycling from bale to flake and pellet.
- Bale opening, pre-wash sorting, crushing/granulating, hot & cold washing, friction washing, float-sink separation, dewatering, drying, chemical dosing, and wash water management.
- Strong understanding of contamination limits, moisture, colour, bulk density, particle size distribution, and the effect of each process parameter.
- Knowledge of extrusion, melt filtration, degassing, pelletizing, PET IV control, PP/PE MFI & MFR control, screen changer, and die management.
- Able to produce mass balance, water balance, PFD, equipment list, plant layout, material flow, and calculate utility loads.
