From Essen to Hong Kong to the whole world

1951 – 1959

In 1951 Wilhelm Kruk founded his company WIK as a small family business. The geographical roots of WIK go back to Essen in Germany. The main focus at that time was trading and production of small electrical household appliances such as hair care devices under its own brand name WIK. Today WIK Group serves leading brands of the world in the design, production, distribution and refurbishment of electrical household appliances.

1960 – 1969

During the 60s, Wilhelm Kruk's son-in-law Klaus Dörn took over the management of WIK. It was during this period that WIK's manufacturing strategy evolved and in 1969 it went from a traditional off-the-shelve-approach to also become an OEM partner.

1970 – 1979

The company extended its footprint and established the first oversea location, namely Hong Kong in 1978. This site remains as headquarters of the WIK Group until today, where WIK's business and administrative core functions are located.

1980 – 1989

Since then the Group has continuously grown its global footprint. WIK Shenzhen in China was founded in 1988 and subsequently all production was moved from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. Today WIK Shenzhen has the biggest production capacity within the group.

1990 – 1999

WIK ventured into the beverage industry by introducing and manufacturing portafilter espresso machines, achieving remarkable growth in this sector over time.

2000 – 2018

In the year 2013 WIK entered the Indonesian market and opened its second manufacturing site on the island of Batam. In 2016 WIK transformed itself into a 100% solution provider. Shortly after that, Klaus Dörn handed over the leadership of the company to his son Christoph Dörn, who took on the CEO role and leads the company until today. Under Christoph Dörn's leadership, the company took on an ambitious journey of increasing the sustainable manufacturing profile of the company. In 2017, the third manufacturing site of WIK was established. The groundbreaking of WIK Prilep in North Macedonia took place in 2017 and a year later, in 2018, operations started to run.

2019 – Ongoing

Furthermore, Christoph Dörn founded a subsidiary of WIK called "Free The Sea" in 2019, which focuses on the elimination of the source of ocean plastics.
