Your Tasks

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems; develop concepts, evaluate trade-offs, and create plastic, sheet-metal, machined, cast, and elastomeric parts with robust interfaces to fluidic, thermal, electronic, sensor, actuator, HMI, and structural elements.
  • Create and maintain robust parametric CAD models, assemblies, and production drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, or CATIA; ensure accurate, reusable CAD data with proper dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, materials, finishes, and manufacturing information.
  • Manage PLM, BOM, and configuration consistency across CAD structures, drawings, specifications, lifecycle states, and ERP interfaces; apply naming, numbering, revision, and release conventions; process engineering changes with impact assessment and configuration integrity.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly principles; collaborate with industrialization, manufacturing engineering, tooling specialists, and suppliers; assess feasibility, tooling, assembly sequence, and process capability; support prototype builds and resolve production issues.
  • Lead or contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, interface-risk assessment, and technical risk management; define verification needs, identify critical dimensions and conditions, support root-cause analysis, and document assumptions, risks, and mitigations.
  • Assess and implement mechanical changes with product, tooling, supplier, validation, cost, and configuration impact; ensure changes are documented, reviewed, approved, and released through PLM; support value engineering, quality improvement, obsolescence, and sustaining engineering with four-eyes review.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with experts, architects, project managers, validation, quality, compliance, sourcing, industrialization, manufacturing, and suppliers; mentor less-experienced engineers and contribute to standards, best practices, checklists, templates, and reusable libraries across WIK locations and development partners.

Your Profile

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical discipline, with typically 6–8+ years of relevant mechanical product-development experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing complex consumer products, appliances, or electromechanical systems, ideally taking products from concept and detailed design through tooling, validation, industrialization, and SOP.
  • Advanced professional experience with Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX (and willingness to learn), including robust parametric modelling, complex assemblies, production drawings, configurations, and controlled product release in an enterprise CAD environment.
  • Practical experience using PLM systems for product structures, revision control, lifecycle states, and engineering changes, plus engineering BOMs and configuration management.
  • Strong technical competence in complex assembly management, mechanical interface design, tolerance design, plastic-part and injection-moulding principles, metal-part design and manufacturing processes, DFMA, DFMEA, technical risk management, design verification, root-cause analysis, corrective-action methods, value engineering, design reuse, and product lifecycle support.
  • Experience collaborating directly with manufacturing teams, tooling suppliers, and component suppliers; experience in coffee, beverage, water, thermal-fluid appliances, or similarly complex products, especially home appliances (beverage systems), is preferred.
  • Strong ownership, attention to technical detail, practical hands-on and solution-oriented mindset, structured problem solving, sound mechanical judgment, CAD/documentation/configuration discipline, constructive challenge, clear technical communication, cross-disciplinary collaboration, coaching and knowledge sharing, and ability to balance performance, reliability, cost, speed, and manufacturability.
